Solar Running Rampant All Over the World

It’s been a while since my last blog post. There won’t be anything particularly earth shattering and it will be quite brief. Just a quick update on some of the happenings around the solar world. It’s an exciting time, watching the world slowly transition into a sustainable way of living. It’s been decades in the making and now we’re on the cusp.

Georgia has just recently passed the Solar Power Free-Market Financing Act. Georgia is just another state in the long line to incentivize solar in the US. This practice is generally referred to as net-metering where you offset your electricity usage throughout the day by pouring surplus electricity back into the grid. This follows a growing trend around the US and more importantly around the world as more and more governments realize the importance of solar.

In the same vein, the city of Nelson has proposed the construction of a solar garden. It would be the first of its kind in Canada and will allow its residents the option to purchase electricity from the garden. Japan has completed parts of a new solar project on an abandoned golf course. Hareon Solar is developing a 72 megawatt project in Andhra Paradesh. India plans to have 100,000 megawatts by 2022.

A clean and sustainable future is no longer just a dream for the next generation. Did I just say on the cusp? It’s already here, and it’s more attainable than ever.
